Central Sector Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students

The Central Sector Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students is started by central government (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment) department of disability affairs of OBC and SC students who belong to the economically weaker family to assist them financially and enhance their skills

The objective of the Scheme is to provide coaching of good quality for economically disadvantaged Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates to enable them to appear in Competitive examination and succeed in obtaining an appropriate job in Public/Private sector

Benefits of Central Sector Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students:

  • Free coaching for examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), State Public Service Commissions
  • Free coaching for Premier Entrance Examinations for admission in Engineering (e.g. IIT, JEE & AIEEE), Medical (e.g. AIPMT), Professional courses like Management (e.g. CAT) and Law (e.g. CLAT)
  • Free coaching for Officers’ Grade examinations conducted by Banks, Insurance Companies, and Public Sector Undertakings
  • Free coaching for finishing courses/job oriented courses for employment in the private sector like IT, Biotechnology etc
  • A stipend will be given at the rate of Rs. 1500  per student per month for local students and Rs. 3000 per student per month for outstation students
  • Institute will pay stipend by cheque or ECS

Required eligibility and conditions for Central Sector Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students:

  1. The students must have secured required percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations as required for the courses/examinations for which free coaching is being imparted under the scheme
  2. Students will be selected on the basis of mark obtain in qualifying exam
  3. Student must belong to either SC or OBC category
  4. Annual income of student parents must not exceed 3 lakh per year (Rs. 300000)
  5. Benefits under the scheme can be availed for two chances only means candidate cannot take benefit more than two times
  6. The selected students must have to attend all classes. In the event of any student remaining absent for more than 15 days, without any valid reason, benefits of free coaching to him/her shall be discontinued
  7. Where the examination will conduct in two stages preliminary and main, the candidates will be selected for free coaching for both the examinations. However, coaching for the main examination may be available only to those candidates who have cleared the preliminary examination
  8. The candidate must not be availing the benefits of free coaching under any other scheme of the Central Government

Application procedure for Central Sector Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students and document required:

Documents required:

  1. Income certificate of parents/guardian/self-showing income less than Rs. 3 lakh
  2. Affidavit from the students that they have not taken benefit more than twice under the scheme
  3. Caste certificate
  4. Caste validity
  5. Previous year pass Marksheet, SSC, HSC board certificates
  6. Bank details, account number, account holder name, branch name, IFSC code, MICR code
  7. Identity proof e.g. Aadhar card, voter ID, respective school/college identity card

Application procedure:

  1. The coaching institutes will issue advertisement in local newspapers and one national daily newspaper inviting applications from the eligible students with disabilities
  2. Then-candidate need to get application form and fill it properly along with documents
  3. And submit it into respective coaching institute for respective course or examination
  4. Qualifying examination will be taken by institute
  5. Selection will be done on the basis of merit score of qualifying exam
