Horticulture Crop Pest and Disease Surveillance and Advisory Project for Farmers

Horticulture Crop Pest and Disease Surveillance and Advisory Project launched by Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna and the scheme are implemented by the state government of Maharashtra. The agriculture department of Maharashtra provide time to time surveillance for trees such as mango, Chikku, orange, banana, pomegranate to farmers and give them advice for prevention of pest and disease on fruit trees. The main purpose of this scheme is to help farmers for side effect of pest on fruit trees, prevention of pest with the help of advice to the farmers, to aware farmers about various pest, to provide pesticides for farmers in emergency situations with 50% subsidy, to survey of pest and diseases on fruit trees and gather report and send it to agriculture universities for research to get permanent remedies.  The agriculture department of Maharashtra can do the survey and gather information about pest and disease on fruit crop with the help of Indian Agriculture Research Institute, National Pomegranate Research Centre Solapur, Banana Research Centre Jalgaon, Chikku Research Centre Palghar and four agriculture universities in Maharashtra state.  The agriculture department also gives advice to farmers for prevention of pest on fruits crop. The survey is implemented on 215 fruit crop pests and diseases and the programme is implemented in 23 districts in Maharashtra over 3, 15,104 hectares areas in the state
