Kaushalya Setu Skill Development Programme

Maharashtra government launched Kaushalya Setu, its skill development programme for students. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Rajiv Pratap Rudy and state Education Minister Vinod Tawde were present on the occasion. Under the Kaushalya Setu initiative, students of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, who fail to clear Class X or SSC exam, would be accommodated in the skill development courses, so that they do not lose a year. Kaushalya Setu is the best among various skill development programmes in Maharashtra. As part of the initiative, the government will accommodate those students in the skill development programme who fail to clear Class X or Class XII exams. In this way, the government aims to save a year of the failing students. Through the skill development initiative, the government of Maharashtra plans to contribute towards the Skill India Mission—2020 of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The initiative of the government of Maharashtra has the backing of the union government as well as the NITI Aayog, and the initiative will also help the skilled people to start their own businesses and in other self-employment activities in addition to providing employment. According to the government of Maharashtra, Kaushalya SETU is a multi-faceted programme that focuses on several aspects including, techno-financial, incubation, and facilitation

Benefits of Kaushalya Setu Skill Development Programme:

  • Providing skills to the students in the state so that around 7.5 lakh people
  • Skill development programme who fail to clear Class X or Class XII exams. In this way, the government aims to save a year of the failing students
  • Persons seeking certification of their skills acquired informally
  • Persons seeking skill up-gradation
  • Early school drop-outs and others
  • Previously child labour and their families

Highlights of Kaushalya Setu Skill Development Programme:

  1. Students of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, who fail to clear Class X or SSC exam, would be accommodated in the skill development courses. This will help in ensuring that these students do not lose a year
  2. The launch will play a leading role in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Skill India Mission-2020
  3. It is a mechanism launched by the Union Government under NITI Aayog to support all aspects of start-up businesses and other self-employment activities, particularly in technology-driven areas. SETU is a Techno-Financial, Incubation and Facilitation Programme

Eligibility applying for Kaushalya Setu Skill Development Programme:

  1. Any individual who is above 14 years of age
  2. Without any educational qualification/experience/skills and looking for a job or Self-Employment
  3. A person must be domicile of Maharashtra

Documents required for Kaushalya Setu skill development programme:

  1. Proof of Address
  2. Proof of Identity e.g. Aadhaar card
  3. Domicile certificate
