Kitchen Gardening Scheme in Tribal District Maharashtra

Kitchen Gardening Scheme in Tribal District is launched by the state government of Maharashtra for tribal people. The scheme is implemented by agriculture department of Maharashtra. Under this scheme, the government of Maharashtra encourages for the plantation of fruit trees and vegetables in the backyard. The government provides subsidy for this scheme which includes vegetable seeds, seedlings, fruit tree grafts, and agricultural tools or implements kit. The aim of the scheme is providing the balanced diet with vitamins and other essential nutrients for prevention of malnutrition in tribal areas. In order to enrich the diet of the population with vitamin A, C, and minerals like iron to the tribal families in the tribal district. The scheme was implemented since 1997-98 in Melghat area of Amravati district and subsequently to 12 tribal districts in Maharashtra such as Thane, Pune, Nasik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Nanded, Amravati, Yeotmal, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur of the state since 2003-04. Now, this Scheme will be implemented in all Districts in Maharashtra state. The government has implemented for plantation of fruit trees and vegetables to 8.000 thousand tribal farmers in this particular year. Government nursery, agricultural universities, state seed mahamandal and national seed corporation provide kalame/rope for plantation of fruit trees and vegetable. All tribal farmers in district are eligible for Kitchen Gardening Scheme

Benefits of Kitchen Gardening Scheme:

  • Benefits to get planting instrument of Rs. 150/- for plantation of vegetable and fruit trees
  • benefits to get Rs. 100/- for agriculture tools
  • benefits to get kalame/rope or seed of limit up to Rs. 250/-

Eligibility for Kitchen Gardening Scheme:

  1. All tribal farmers in Maharashtra are eligible for this scheme
  2. Tribal family belongs to malnutrition village in tribal district are eligible for this scheme
  3. All tribal farmers who have agriculture land and kitchen gardening are eligible for this scheme

  1. Applicant Aadhaar card
  2. Applicant 7/12
  3. Applicant caste certificate
  4. Applicant bank account details if required
