Manodhairya Yojana by Government of Maharashtra

Maharashtra cabinet approved a scheme aimed at providing financial, medical and legal aid, rehabilitation and counselling to survivors of rape and child abuse. Manodhairya yojana scheme is implemented by the DCIRB committee, with the district collector as president and the district woman and child development officer as the member-secretary. The other members include the superintendent of police, deputy commissioner of police and the district civil surgeon. Cases of molestation are not covered under the scheme. The scheme, which aims at providing financial, medical and legal aid, rehabilitation and counselling to victims of rape, acid attack and child abuse, was passed by the Maharashtra government after the Bombay high court directed the state to implement a scheme that provides financial compensation and legal assistance to rape and child abuse victims in July 2013. In some cases, victims can be offered vocational training to equip them to be financially independent.

Benefits of Manodhairya Yojana:

  • Manodhairya Yojana provides benefits in the form of financial assistance
  • The girls who are victim of rape or child assault will get minimum Rs. 2 Lakh and in special case they will get Rs. 3 Lakh
  • Those women and girls who are victim of acid attack will get Rs. 3 lakh in case they have permanent disability or if their face is damaged
  • Women’s and girls who are injured in acid attack will get Rs. 50,000/-
  • Victim women’s and girl or their families will get medical and legal aid, rehabilitation and counselling to victims of rape

Required eligibility for Manodhairya Yojana:     

  1. Victim should filed the first information report (FIR)
  2. The FIR should be under the following norms of IPCC section 375 and 376, 376(2), 376(A), and 376 (B)
  3. The FIR of child assault will be under the following norms: Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act, 2012 under section 3, 4 , 5 and 6
  4. The FIR of acid attack will be under following norms: Acid attack under IPCC section 326 (A) and 326(B)

Document required for applying Manodhairya Yojana:

  1. Identity Proof
  2. Permanent residence proof
  3. FIR Copy
  4. Medical Certificate
  5. District trauma Certificate

Application Procedure:

  1. District collector held the chairmanship of District criminal damage and rehabilitation aid society in every district
  2. The victim of these cases can contact to the collector office for application
  3. For getting physical and mental support, District Trauma Team is created in every district
