Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant (Post Matric Education)

Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant (Post Matric Education) scheme for SC and ST Students is started by Meghalaya State Government (Ministry of Social Justice and Welfare) ST & SC Development and Minority & Other Backward Classes Welfare Department. The main objective of the scheme is to give financial assistance to meritorious tribal students of Meghalaya for purchase of books required for their studies in courses other than technical and vocational courses in any recognized institution in India including the State of Meghalaya. Under the scheme financial assistance will be provided to students. This scheme is to provide scholarship to students those belonging to economically weaker sections of notified SC and ST communities so as to provide those better opportunities for increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability and empowerment through education and increase of the socio-economic conditions of the SC and ST communities.

Benefits of Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant:

  • Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant for SC and ST Students provides in the form of financial assistance. Rates of scholarship are mentioned below as per the requirement of students:
  • XI – XII (Arts/Commerce) at the rate of Rs. 500/-
  • XI – XII (Science) at the rate of Rs. 700/-
  • Degree (Arts/ Commerce) Pass at the rate of Rs. 600/-
  • Degree (Arts/ Commerce) Honours at the rate of Rs. 750/-
  • Degree (Science) Pass at the rate of 900/-
  • Degree (Science) Honours at the rate of 1000/-
  • Post Graduate (Arts/Commerce) at the rate of Rs. 900/-
  • Post Graduate (Science) at the rate of Rs. 1200/-
  • Research – M.Phil., M.Litt., Ph.D. at the rate of Rs. 1500/-

 Required eligibility and conditions for applying Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant:

  1. Candidate is permanent resident of the State of Meghalaya, belong to Khasi-Jaintia or Garo Community or any Student belonging to such tribe (s), community (ties)
  2. Candidate must secure at least 60 percent marks in aggregate in the preceding examination conducted by the Board/University
  3. The courses of study should be a regular course other than a technical and vocational course, in a recognized institution in any place in India including Meghalaya
  4. That he/she is not employed in any capacity under the Government

Document required for applying Meghalaya Tribal Students’ Book Grant:

  1. Caste certificate
  2. Passport size photograph
  3. Domicile certificate
  4. Non creamy layer certificate
  5. Income certificate
  6. Residence proof
  7. Aadhar card
  8. Bank Details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, Account number, Account holder name, Branch name
  9. School Mark sheets and certificate
  10. Bonafide certificate

 Application Procedure:

  1. Students studying within the state are to collect the forms (Fresh) from their respective institutions whereas students studying outside the state may collect the forms from the office of the undersigned
  2. All the students submitting the application forms should submit along with the soft copy
  3. Students should submit the application form with all documents to the head of the institute
