Pesticide Residue Testing Laboratory in Maharashtra State

Pesticide Residue testing laboratory is launched by the state government of Maharashtra. This scheme is implemented by agriculture department of Maharashtra for testing agricultural productions by farmers. The government of Maharashtra has established two Insecticide Residue Testing Laboratories at Pune & Nagpur. To protect crop production from pest and other insecticides, farmers are required to use various agrochemicals for Intensive crop production. However, due to over use of agriculture chemicals in farming, the pesticides contents shall remain in the agriculture produce. These remains chemical in the agriculture production may hazardous to human health. Due to this, Government of Maharashtra has established two Insecticide Residue Testing Laboratories to test ratio of chemicals in agriculture production. The Insecticide including all pesticides is analyzed in this laboratory. The residue of Fresh fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Oil Dairy products, processed food, Water etc. tested in the laboratory. Maharashtra government aims of providing facilities of international level to farmers, Exporters & other users for analysis of various pesticides, domestic food and export quality food material can be analyzed at these laboratories. More than 177 pesticides can be analyzed from fresh fruits and vegetable cereals pulses oilseeds processed food dairy and dairy products (animal feed) water beverages and cold drinks. The laboratory Charges of testing for 10 pesticides is Rs.2500/- & for 177 pesticides is Rs.5000/- plus service tax

Application procedure:

  1. An applicant contacts Insecticide Residue Testing Laboratory, Pune, and Nagpur for the testing of residue content
  2. An applicant also contact district or Taluka level agriculture officer for lab testing

Laboratory Fees for Residue Testing:

  1. Fees for single residue analysis is Rs. 2500/-
  2. Fees for multi-residue analysis is Rs. 5000/-
