Procedure for Application of Marriage Certificate in Rajasthan

The Marriage certificate is one of the most important documents which is useful for various purposes like to get the passport, to change name or surname, to apply for an income certificate etc. The Marriage certificate is a documentary proof of registration of marriage in Rajasthan. In India, marriage registration is done according to the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or Special Marriage Act, 1954, the Rajasthan Hindu Marriage Registration Rules 1956, etc. Normally, the procedure is that one should apply for the marriage certificate will get the certificate within 30 days of the date of marriage.  In India, the Supreme Court made it compulsory to register the marriage for women protection.

Eligibility for applying Marriage Certificate:

  • Bridge must have completed 18 years of age
  • Groom must have completed 21 years age

Document required for Marriage Certificate in Rajasthan:

  1. Age Proof: Groom and Bridge age proof (copy of living certificate, domicile, mark sheet of 10th standard)
  2. Address Proof: Ration Card / Voter ID /Passport/ Driving License
  3. Photos: 2 Photographs of Marriage (as proof of marriage)
  4. Application form: Completely filled application form signed by both husband and wife
  5. Identity Proof: Aadhar Card / Pan Card / Voter ID
  6. Photo Copy: All documents photocopies with attested from government officer
  7. Affidavit: Separate Marriage Affidavits in prescribed format from Husband and wife

Offline Procedure to apply for Marriage Certificate:

  1. Applicant must visit the registry office and get the application form for marriage certificate
  2. Get the application form and fill all following details very carefully
  3. Name of husband and wife
    Date of Birth of husband and wife
    Marriage date and place
  4. Get the sign of 3 witnesses who can even relatives or friends
  5. Submit application form along with necessary documents to the office of district marriage register and get the acknowledgment slip.

Online Procedure to apply for Marriage Certificate:

  1. The applicant must visit the official website of Rajasthan government i.e rajasthan.gov.in
  2. On clicking that link and fill all necessary information and details
  3. You will be allotted a temporary number that will be found printed on the acknowledgement slip and the application form is done.
  4. Take a printout and get the acknowledgement slip

Charges for Marriage Certificate:

  • Rs. 10 is charged for issuing a Marriage Certificate
