Procedure to Apply for Birth Certificate in Gujarat

The birth certificate is a vital record of birth. Birth Certificate is the most important identity document that makes it possible for anyone in possession of it to benefit from a verity of services offered by the Indian Government to its citizens. It becomes necessary to obtain a Birth Certificate because it serves to establish the date and fact of one’s birth for a whole range of purposes, like acquiring the right to vote, admission to schools and to the Government Service, claiming the right to marry at the legally permissible age, settlement of inheritance and property rights, and obtaining Government-issued identity documents like a driving license or passport. The article will provide guideline applying birth certificate in Gujarat.

  • Anyone who born in Gujarat state can apply for Birth certificate

Where to approach for Birth Certificate:

  1. Tehsil / Subtehsil Office : Find your local Tehsil office in your area, they should be able to help you out in applying for a Birth certificate
  2. Municipal Corporation
  3. (CSC) Common Service Centers :Find your local nearest through link mentioned and apply there: http://gis.csc.gov.in/locator/csc.aspx Also make sure you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section

Document required for applying Procedure to Apply for Birth Certificate in Gujarat:

  1. Aadhar card/ Driving license/ Voter card (Identity proof)
  2. Residence proof
  3. Application form (Available in Municipal Corporation)
  4. Affidavit in case you have not register after birth of the child (Affidavit is to ensure authenticity of parent and child)
  5. Parents birth certificates
  6. Marriage Certificate if needed
  7. Proof of birth, letter from the hospital where child is born
  8. Parent’s identity proofs for verification
  9. Some processing fee will be there in municipal corporation

Online Procedure for Applying Birth Certificate:

  1. Candidate can apply online on http://www.rmc.gov.in/rmcwebsite/birth_death_certificate.aspx
  2. But for applying online (on the above link mentioned) candidate must have registration number or birth must be recorded
  3. To get Birth Certificate online without registration number follow the below mentioned steps
  4. Click on the link https://www.suratmunicipal.gov.in/ (its Surat Municipal Corporation’s website)
  5. On the top left corner there is one button in green color station “ONLINE SERVICES”, click on that and select Birth Certificate
  6.  Under Birth Certificate block click on the check and get birth certificate
  7. On the new page which you get now, give your information and hit search button and there it is, your Birth Certificate

 Fees for Application:

  1. For application of birth of certificate candidate need to pay less than Rs. 10
