Scheme of Free Coaching for Students with Disabilities

The Scheme of Free Coaching for Students with Disabilities is started by central government (ministry of social justice and women empowerment) for handicapped students and economically weaker The objective of the scheme is to provide coaching for economically disadvantaged students with disabilities, having minimum 40% or more disability to enable them to appear in competitive examination and succeed in obtaining an appropriate job in Govt. / Public/Private sector. Competitive examination like Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission, AIEEE, JEE etc

Benefits of Scheme of Free Coaching for Students with Disabilities:

  • Free coaching for examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and the various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), State Public Service Commissions
  • Free coaching for Premier Entrance Examinations for admission in Engineering (e.g. IIT, JEE & AIEEE), Medical (e.g. AIPMT), Professional courses like Management (e.g. CAT) and Law (e.g. CLAT)
  • Free coaching for OfficersтАЩ Grade examinations conducted by Banks, Insurance Companies, and Public Sector Undertakings
  • Free coaching for finishing courses/job oriented courses for employment in the private sector like IT, Biotechnology etc
  • Stipend will be given at the rate of Rs.1500/- per student per month for local students and Rs.3000/- per student per month for outstation students
  • Transport allowance1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) per month for entire duration of coaching
  • Institute will pay stipend and transport allowance by cheque or ECS

Required Eligibility and conditions for applying Scheme of Free Coaching for Students with Disabilities:

  1. Annual income of student parents must not exceed 3 lakh per year (Rs. 300000)
  2. Free coaching under this scheme will be available to students with disabilities who are covered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 and the National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999
  3. The students must have secured percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations as required for the courses/examinations for which free coaching is being included under the scheme
  4. The candidate must not be availing the benefits of free coaching under any other scheme of the central government
  5. In the event of any student remaining absent for more than 10% of classes of a course, without any valid reason, benefits of free coaching to him/her shall be discontinued
  6. The students must have secured percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations as required for the courses/examinations for which free coaching is being imparted under the scheme
  7. Where the examination will conduct in two stages preliminary and main, the candidates will be selected for free coaching for both the examinations. However, coaching for the main examination may be available only to those candidates who have cleared the preliminary examination
  8. Benefits under the scheme can be availed for two chances only means candidate cannot take benefit more than two times

Application procedure and document required for Scholarship:

  1. Income certificate of parents/guardian/self-showing income less than Rs. 3 lakh
  2. Affidavit from the students that they have not taken benefit more than twice under the scheme
  3. Certificate that shows that disability of student 40 % or more than 40 %
  4. Previous year pass mark sheet, SSC, HSC board certificates
  5. Bank details, account number, account holder name, branch name, IFSC code, MICR code
  6. Identity proof e.g. Aadhar card, voter ID, respective school/college identity card

Application procedure:

  1. The coaching institutes will issue advertisement in local newspapers and one national daily newspaper inviting applications from the eligible students with disabilities
  2. Then candidate need to get application form and fill it properly along with documents
  3. And submit it into respective coaching institute
  4. Qualifying examination will be taken
  5. Selection will be done on the basis of merit score of qualifying exam
