Shagun Scheme in Punjab has initiated and launched by state Government of Punjab to provide financial assistance for girl’s marriage. This scheme implemented by the Department of Welfare of scheduled caste (SC’s) and backward classes (BC’s) in Punjab. Under Shagun Scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 for the marriage of the daughter to the poor families in Punjab.

Punjab government has always provided various opportunities and benefits to the women and it is one of the top listed states to provide the empowerment to the women. The main objectives of this scheme are to bring a positive change after a girl child is born to the family, to support the family financially for the marriage of the girl, to discourage any minor girl marriage in the state and encourage marriages only after the girl has attained the legal age for marriage. Along with this, it also helps to improve the education and health of the girl child and maintains the gender balance and helps the family in making a proper planning for the future. The disbursement of money under Shagun Scheme which is of Rs 15,000 is directly transferred into the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

Eligibility for Shagun Scheme in Punjab:

  1. Applicant should be resident of Punjab state
  2. Applicant family should belong to below poverty line(BPL)
  3. Applicant should belong to Scheduled Castes, Christian Girls, Backward Classes and Other Economically Weaker families to get benefits under this shagun scheme

Documents required for Shagun Scheme in Punjab:

  1. Aadhaar card
  2. Residence proof
  3. Age proof
  4. Caste certificate
  5. BPL card
  6. Verified form by Gazette officer or Sarpanch
  7. Bank account details

How to apply for Shagun Scheme in Punjab:

For online:

  1. Visit State Portal of Punjab http://punjab.gov.in/shagun-service and click on  the apply online shagun scheme
  2. If you are a new user then click on New User link, else login with your Username and Password http://punjab.gov.in/eform/login.xhtml
  3. Now register by filling essential details such as name, middle name, surname, date of birth etc
  4. Once successfully register, user will get LOGIN ID and PASSWORD, login with the same
  5. After logging in for the first time, user will be asked to update their profile. So, update it
  6. Click on “Fresh Application” link in the left menu
  7. On the next screen, all Department wise services are listed. Choose the service you want to apply for and click the “Apply” link next to the service
  8. On the Fresh Application screen, go to Alternative 2 (Online Form application) section and click on “Click here to fill the application form online” link
  9. Fill the form and click “Submit”
  10. Click “View Saved Application” link, select the application and click “Upload Supporting Documents” button
  11. Now, upload the documents and submit

For offline:

  1. Visit State Portal of Punjab http://punjab.gov.in/shagun-service and click on  the apply online shagun scheme
  2. If you are a new user then click on New User link, else login with your Username and Password http://punjab.gov.in/eform/login.xhtml
  3. Now register by filling essential details such as name, middle name, surname, date of birth etc
  4. Once successfully register, user will get LOGIN ID & PASSWORD and login with the same
  5. After logging in for the first time, the user will be asked to update their profile. So, update it
  6. Click on “Fresh Application” link in the left menu
  7. On the next screen, all Department wise services are listed. Choose the service you want to apply for and click the “Apply” link next to the service
  8. On the Fresh Application screen, go to Alternative 1(Offline Form application) section and click on Form Name to download the e-Form.
  9. Fill the e-Form in offline mode (Internet connection is not required to fill e-Form)
  10. Login to the application and on the Fresh Application screen, go to Alternative 1 (Offline Form application) section and click on “Click here to upload the filled form” link
  11. Browse to the filled e-Form and click on “Add” button
