The State Government of Goa designed and started new award scheme to recognize, promote and appreciate the contribution of the institution in the field of Art and Culture called State Cultural Award for best Institution. State Cultural Award for best Institution began by Directorate of Art and Culture in Goa and this award gives a tremendous boost to cultural institutions, which in turn will give encouragement to new talents.
The Objectives of this scheme is to recognize, promote and appreciate the institution par excellence as best Cultural Institution of Goa, to give a boost to the cultural institutions, which in turn will also encourage the other institutions in the State to promote and encourage cultural talents towards an extraordinary creative output, to develop cultural Environment in the State and to felicitate the institution par excellence for its achievements.
Any Goan institution (or institution working for the Goan artist) working in the field of Art and Culture are eligible for this award. The date and venue for the State Cultural Award for best Institution organized by the directorate of art and culture, goa. In this award, Eligible institution honored with a Memento and a financial assistance to the extent of Rs. 3.00 Lakh. Goa is rich in cultural and ethnic diversity and this kind of awards will encourage Goans to save the local art and culture during the period of modernization

Eligibility for State Cultural Award for best Institution:
- Any Goan institution (or institution working for Goan artist) working in the field of Art and Culture are eligible for this ward
- The functioning institutions who have completed 15 years and given extraordinary contribution to the field of Art and Culture will be eligible to receive this award
- Preference for this award will be given to the institutions involved in Cultural Education i.e. imparting Training in Music, Dance, Drama, Fine arts etc
- The cultural institutions those are financed by the Central Government Corporations, Municipalities are also eligible to apply for this award
- The institutions once awarded are not eligible for the second time
- The institution should have a properly constituted managing body with its powers and duties clearly defined in its constitution and shall have a good reputation in the local community
How to apply for State Cultural Award for best Institution:
- Every year the Department of Art and Culture will release a Press release/Advertisement hereby inviting recommendations of the names of the institutions for best cultural institution
- The Committee constituted for this award may also recommend the names of institutions
