The Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences is started by central government (University Grants Commission) for single girl child in family. The objective of scheme is to promote women education and to give girl equality and dignity. Swami Vivekananda for single girl child for research in social sciences aiming  to compensate direct costs of higher education especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family. The scheme will indirectly help to propagate the concept of single girl child norm and

Benefits of Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship:

  • The Swami Vivekananda single girl child scholarship for research in social sciences provides benefits in terms of financial assistance like mention below
  • The amount of Scholarship is :
    1. 12, 400/- per month for first two years
    2. 15, 500/- per month for third and fourth year (Extendable for fifth year in exceptional circumstances)

Required eligibility and conditions for Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship:

  1. The girl students who are admitted in Ph. D. program in social sciences in Universities / Institutes and happen to be the only girl child in the family without having any brother or the girl student who are twin daughters/ fraternal daughter is eligible for apply
  2. Girl students up to the age of 40 years for general and 45 years for the reserved category SC/ST/OBC and physical handicapped at the time of admission in Ph.D courses are eligible
  3. Any single girl child of her parents
  4. The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full -time Ph. D. program in Social Sciences in any recognized University/Institute. Admission to Ph.D. Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme

Application procedure for Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship and document required:
Documents    

  1. The candidate is required to submit an application only through ONLINE MODE
  2. Proof of admission in Ph.D. degree course in a recognized Indian University covered under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act
  3. A certificate from the University/Institute where student has taken admission to Ph.D. Course
  4. Proof of being single girl child- An affidavit on Rs.50/- stamp paper from the student/parent duly attested by SDM / First Class Magistrate / Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar) copying the prescribed languages
  5. Marksheet for Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate degree
  6. Degree certificate
  7. Bank details, account number, account holder name, IFSC code, MICR code
  8. Aadhar card
  9. Caste certificate

Application procedure

  1. Step 1: The applicant has to apply through online mode only
  2. Step 2: Go to official site (http://www.ugc.ac.in) there will be tab “Apply Now” click on it and fill application form and submit it
