Balika Samruddhi Yojana launched by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and Implemented by Government of Gujarat. The aim of a scheme to empower women. A unique initiative of Indian government has changed negative families and community attitude towards the girl child and her mother. Under this scheme, all-girl gets financial assistance every month, till the girl child becomes marriage age or up to 18 years. The implementation of scheme about to increase enrollment and retention of girl’s school, to raise the marriage age of the girl and increase income opportunities and activities. All girl resident of Gujarat can avail benefits of the scheme. Application form can be obtained from the Anganwadi worker and help is provided too. Mother can reach to Anganwadi center with required documents. Nearest women and child development office is the nodal agency for implementation of the scheme

Benefits of Balika Samruddhi Yojana in Gujarat:

• Balika Samruddhi Yojana focuses on changing negative family and community attitudes towards the girl child
• Under this scheme, girls are awarded monthly scholarship for their social, economic, educational upliftment
• Under this scheme financial help of Rs. 500 is given post birth
• A sum of Rs.300 to Rs.1000 scholarship is added to their account. Till the girl child becomes marriage age or up to 18 years

Eligibility and conditions applying for Balika Samruddhi Yojana:

1. Gujarat resident are eligible
2. Below Poverty Line card holder are eligible
3. Benefits are limited to two girl children in each household born on or after 15 August 1997
4. Till the girl child becomes marriage age or up to 18 years, she is eligible to get the benefit amount

Documents applying for Balika Samruddhi Yojana:

1. Residence proof: Domicile certificate, Electricity bill
2. Identity proof: Aadhar card, Voter ID
3. Birth certificate
4. BPL Ration card
5. Passport size photograph
6. Income certificate
7. Post account or Bank details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, Account no

Application procedure:

1. Applicant should visit Nearest Anganwadi center, The Anganwadi workers provide help to open any Nationalized Bank or Post Office Saving account with Rs.500/- to newborn girls born to families after August 15, 1997
