Fisheries-Short Term Loans through Co-operative Banks is the scheme for the improvement of inland fish farming. Under the scheme the farmers willing to undertake fisheries farming will get the loan for the establishment of plant and carry it forward. Karnataka state shares the 320 KM of sea coast and has pretty good environment to undertake inland fish farming. Here as well govt. provides interest free loan so that it becomes easy for the farmer to repay the loan. Initially, the farming can be started by providing environment and breeds after which the time it is to get the returns.

Benefits of Fisheries-Short Term through Co-operative Banks:

  • Loan of up to Rs. 1 Lakhs: The scheme provides the loan of up to Rs. 1 Lakhs to start the venture
  • Subsidy on rate of interest: Government gives subsidy on the rate of interest of loan to fish farmers and subsidy is in the form of no interest at all on the loan
  • Better returns: Since the subsidy is there into the system there will better return at both end. Farmer will generate more opportunities and will pay the loan easily whereas govt. institutions granting the loan will get more applications and as a result more opportunities to mint the money for state welfare
  • Strong economic conditions: The subsidy will enable easy repayment of loan which indirectly will improve the economic condition of the person starting the new venture of fisheries

Eligibility for Fisheries-Short Term through Co-operative Banks:

  1. Applicant must be a member of co-operative bank/if not then must become the member and then get a loan
  2. Must be the resident of Karnataka state

Documents Required:

  1. Residential Proof (electricity bill, water connection bill, gas connection bill, ration card, voter id, Aadhar card, pan card or driving license)
  2. Aadhar Card
  3. Age Proof (Birth Certificate/Board Certificate)
  4. Bank passbook having (bank name, branch name, account holder name, IFSC & MICR code)
  5. Registration proof of starting the new venture
  6. Passport size photographs (keep more than one copy)

To apply for the scheme farmer willing to undertake fisheries need to visit co-operative bank where he/she is the member, forms are available at the bank itself.
