Free Laptop Distribution Scheme

Class 11th, 12th & first year polytechnic students to get free laptops in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Government has launched a Free Laptop Distribution Scheme for students in government & government-aided schools in the state. Class 11th students of the current academic year will be given laptops. Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami launched the scheme. The scheme will cost Rs. 1,340.44 crore  to the TN government.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicable only for the permanent residents of Tamil Nadu
  • Applicable only to the class 11th, 12th & polytechnic students
  • Students of the government & government aided schools only are eligible

The free laptops for students project was launched by the AIADMK government. The special projects department of the TN government has been distributing free laptops since 2011-12. Total 37.88 lakh students have benefited from the scheme so far.

5.12 lakh students from 11th class, 15.18 lakh in students 12th class & first year polytechnic will get benefited from the scheme. The primary objective of the scheme is to provide the equal opportunities to all the students. It will connect students to the online learning resources & opportunities online. The CM also distributed free laptops to the seven eligible students on the launch of the scheme.
