Girl Child Protection Scheme in Andhra Pradesh

Girl Child Protection Scheme is launched by the Women Development Child Welfare & Disabled Welfare Department on 8th March 2005. The main objective of Girl Child Protection Scheme is to provide protection to girl child and spread awareness in the society against female aborticide as well as women empowerment through education. This scheme helps to protect the rights of girl child and provide social and financial empowerment to girl child

Benefits of Girl Child Protection Scheme:

  • In the initial stage from the birth of child, the money would be deposited in the bank account of the mother
  • This scheme will help to cover state’s population
  • If the girl fails in the 12th standard or equivalent exam, she will be eligible for final payment after completion of 20 years
  • The scheme provides help to girl children in poor families and help in their education
  • The government provides a fixed deposit of Rs. 50,000 for families with a girl child and Rs. 25,000 for each girl child for families with two girl children 

Eligibility of Girl Child Protection Scheme:

  1. This scheme is eligible only for those families with only single girl child or only two girls
  2. If Girl Child born before 03-01-2013 then total annual incomes of girl child family should below Rs. 20, 000/- per annum for rural areas and Rs.24, 000/- per annum for urban areas and if girl child born on or after  03-01-2013 then total annual incomes of girl child family will have to below Rs. 40, 000/- per annum for rural areas and Rs.48, 000/- per annum for urban areas
  3. First priority goes to those families having single girl from the age between 0 to 3 years
  4. If a girl is disabled more than 80% will be eligible to getting benefits of this scheme but her parent annual income does not exceed Rs.1.00 lakh per annum

  Document required for Girl Child Protection scheme:

  1. Two Photographs
  2. Income certificate issued by MRO(Medical Review Officer)
  3. Family Planning Certificate
  4. Attested copy of Birth Certificate
  5. Attested copy of White Ration Card
  6. Disability Certificate Issued by Chief Medical Officer(In case of Orphan/Disabled)
  7. Sterilization Certificate Issued by Medical Office
