Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme, 2021

To empower youth thereby making them industry ready

Government of Goa decided to announce the implementation date of Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training scheme to be June 18, 2021. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant headed a high-level meeting, reviewed and decided the implementation date of the scheme on Goa Revolution Day. Earlier Goa state cabinet approved the scheme on February 17, 2021. Under this scheme all the apprentices under Apprentices Act, 1961 will be covered for additional training. This scheme will be beneficial for the apprentices across the state. This scheme tends to empower the youth and make them industry ready. It will be implemented though the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC). Currently the scheme is planned for 1 year with a scope for expansion based on results.

Scheme Details:

  • Goa Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme, 2021 is about to be launched by the Goa government
  • CM headed a high-level monitoring and advisory meeting, reviewed and decided the implementation date of the scheme to be June 18, 2021 on Goa Revolution Day.
  • This scheme will be applicable to all the apprentices in the state
  • This scheme will be implemented by the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC)
  • This scheme will be in force for 1-year
  • All the skilled as well as unskilled apprentices will be provided additional training and exposure under this scheme
  • It tends to make the apprentices industry/ market ready thereby increasing the chance of employ-ability
  • It will lead to skill development and improve the overall personality of the apprentices
  • It aims at empowering youth in the state thereby contributing to the overall economic development of the state
  • Apprentices having 15 years of residence in the state will be provided a stipend of Rs. 1,500 per month over and above the stipend payable under any other apprentice scheme by government of India
  • Department wise requirement of apprentices from government and non-government establishments is being analysed and accordingly the same will be announced
  • Registration will be done on first come first serve basis
  • GHRDC is in the process of signing MoU with several companies under this scheme
  • Currently about 30 companies have agreed to sign the MoU
  • A budget of Rs. 5 crores are allocated for the implementation of the scheme
