Grant in Aid Hostels Scheme launched by Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat. The objective of this scheme is to facilitate with the residential facility to the students of Scheduled Tribes to study in major cities of Gujarat to the tribal students who wish to pursue higher secondary education. Under this scheme, a free residential facility is provided and the hostels receive Rs. 1000 per month for 10 months. There is as many as 897 Grant in Aid Hostels across 15 Districts of Gujarat with a capacity of 46,236 seats. All students belong Scheduled Tribes and permanent residence of Gujarat state are eligible under this scheme, those who wish to get benefits can apply for Nearest Grant in Aid Hostels Scheme in Gujarat or Nearest Tribal Development Office

Required eligibility and conditions applying for Grant in Aid Hostels Scheme:
- Students of Scheduled Tribes and residents of Gujarat state is eligible under this scheme
- An annual income of student’s family should not be more than Rs. 11,000
- Students studying in class 8-12 are eligible
Document required applying for Grant in Aid Hostels Scheme:
- Tribal certificate
- Caste certificate
- Income certificate
- Identity proof: Aadhar card
- BPL ration card (if available)
- Schooling certificates: Mark sheets
- Residence proof: Domicile Certificate, Electricity bill
Application Procedure:
- This scheme is implemented by Tribal Development Department. Students who wish to get benefits of this scheme can apply at Nearest Tribal Development Office or GIA Hostels located across 15 Districts of Gujarat
