Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education

The Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education scheme is started by central government (ministry of human resource and development) to provide a further incentive to the girl child who passes the 8th standard examination and enrolls in secondary school. A sum of Rs. 3,000 will be deposited in her name, and she would be entitled to withdraw it on reaching 18 years of age. The scheme is announced to promote the girl child’s enrollment of 14-18 years age group at secondary stage, which passes class 8th and subsequently drops out for various socio-economic reasons

Benefits of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education scheme:

  • Incentive to girls for secondary education scheme provides benefits in terms of financial assistance to girls students who belong to SC/ST category and passed 8th standard like 3000 will be deposited or fixed deposit in a public sector bank or in a post office in the name of every eligible girl child

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education scheme:

  1. Applicant girl should be below 16 years of age (as on 31st March) on joining class 9th
  2. The girl should be unmarried
  3. The girl must belong to SC/ST category
  4. Scheme is made applicable to the girls, who pass class 8th examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalayas whether she belongs to SC/ST or not
  5. No restriction based on income criteria
  6. Girl will be eligible to withdrawal after attain 18 years of her age or To be eligible to draw the matured amount a pre-condition would be for the beneficiary to pass class X Board examination successfully

Application procedure of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education scheme and document required:

  1. Birth certificate but all details will be taken by implementing agencies from beneficiaries school
  2. Bank account will be open by implementing agency to nearest public sector bank or post office

Whom to contact and where to contact:

  1. The scheme is implemented by state implementing agency so that beneficiary student need to apply or meet any authority because all relevant information and records will be taken by implementing agency itself and incentive amount will be deposited, but candidate needs to confirm whether money deposited or not
