Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship (JNMFS)

The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship is started by Indian Government (Ministry of Human Resource and Development) for students who wish to pursue Ph.D. in one of those subjects are mentioned Indian History and Civilization, Sociology, Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture, Economics, Geography, Philosophy, Ecology & Environment. The main objective behind introducing this scheme is to encourage meritorious students for contributing in Indian History and Civilization, Sociology, Comparative Studies etc. under this scheme selected candidates are awarded Rs. 18000 per month as a scholarship and Rs. 15000 for other expenses. Candidate will get benefited for the duration of 2 years. Forgetting eligible for this scheme candidate need to qualify some eligibility norms which are mentioned below in detailed

Benefits of Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship:

  • Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship provides benefits in the form of financial assistance to those students who wish to pursue to Ph.D. rates of scholarship are mentioned below
  • Maintenance allowance including Tuition fee: Rs. 18,000 per month
  • Contingent expenses for study tours within India, purchase of books, stationery, etc.: Rs. 15,000 per annum

Required eligibility and conditions for applying for Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship:

  1. Candidate must be a permanent resident of India
  2. Candidate must hold first class Post-graduate degree with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate in both graduate and postgraduate level
  3. Candidate must already be registered/admitted for Ph.D. degree with a recognized University/Institution in India
  4. Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered at the time of submission of application, are not eligible to apply
  5. Candidate should not above 35 years of age
  6. Candidate must be a full-time Ph.D. scholar

Area of Specialization: A candidate may apply for scholarship in any one of the following areas of specialization

  1. Indian History and Civilization
  2. Sociology
  3. Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture
  4. Economics
  5. Geography
  6. Philosophy
  7. Ecology & Environment

Document required for applying for Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship:

  1. A passport size photograph of the applicant to be pasted on the form
  2. A synopsis of around 1500 words or about 4 pages in double space
  3. Doctoral Monitoring Committee or Supervisor’s report
  4. Postal Order/Demand Draft for Rs. 100
  5. D registration certificate
  6. Domicile certificate
  7. Aadhar card
  8. Degree and Post Degree Certificate
  9. Previous Year Marksheet
  10. Bank details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, Branch name, Account number
