To encourage birth, education and welfare of girls

Jammu& Kashmir government started ‘Ladli Beti’ scheme in the year 2015 for welfare of girls in the union territory. Under this scheme the government deposits a financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 pr month to the bank account of girl for her welfare. This scheme is mainly launched for the girls belonging to the below poverty line families or PHH category. This assistance will be provided to the girls till they attain the age of 21 years. Under this scheme, once the girl attains 21 years of age she will be provided with a lumpsum of Rs. 5 lakhs for her marriage. This scheme will help the poor parents to provide education to their girl and  get her married. It is aimed ensuring at welfare of girls thereby empowering them. This scheme is implemented by the Social Welfare Department of J&K. Currently there are some issues going on regarding the State subject PRC documentation in the union territory which is being looked into by the social welfare as well as administration departments respectively.

Objectives and Benefits:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The basic requirement under this scheme is, that the girl and her family should be a resident of Jammu & Kashmir. They must have a valid proof for the same
  • As this scheme is for girls born in low-income groups, the annual income from all sources of the family should not more than Rs. 75,000
