Magel Tyala Shet Tale Yojana for Farmers in Maharashtra

The government of Maharashtra launched a farm pond scheme Magel Tyala Shet Tale Yojna for the farmers in Maharashtra. Under this scheme, State Government of Maharashtra gives a subsidy to build farm ponds for the conservation of water in the farm. The state government has directed the district administration to lend a helping hand to small and marginal farmers across 14 distressed districts. A large number of farmers are suffering in Vidarbha and Marathwada region due to drought. Farm ponds will be significant for farmers. This gives benefit as the creation of permanent assets for holding water. This would help them to save water in their own farm and use for agriculture purposes. The farm ponds get full only in 4 to 5 days of rain. In the Vidarbha region, the district like Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, and Nagpur can get benefits of this programme.

In Marathwada region, the three districts identified are Latur, Beed, and Osmanabad, among the worst hit by the water crisis. The farmers who seek for farm pond can apply online through the government of Maharashtra portal. Before applying, all you need to decide purpose and then what quantity of water you want to preserve. Make sure you have studies sources of water to fill Shet Tale. You can either harvest rainwater or pump water from a seasonal water stream or bore/well. To use rain as the source of water, make sure you understand catchment area, average rainfall in your area, type of soil, water flow etc. The location of Shet Tale has to be approved by agricultural department and the standard size for shet tale is prescribed by government

Benefits of Magel Tyala Shet Tale Yojna:

  • To get benefit of subsidy near about 70% to 75% on farm pond
  • The government has also introduced subsidy for the plastic paper which is used to cover the bottom of the shet tale (pond)

Eligibility of Magel Tyala Shet Tale Yojna:

  1. The farmer should have minimum 0.60-hectare farm
  2. Individual farmers are eligible for this yojana
  3. Beneficiaries farm should technically eligible as per government norms
  4. A group of farmers is eligible to make one common farm pond

Document required for Magel Tyala Shet Tale Yojna:

  1. Applicant address proof such as Aadhaar card
  2. Caste certificate
  3. Applicant 7/12
  4. Applicant BPL card if applicable
  5. Certificate of technical eligibility for farm pond
  6. Photocopies of applicant
  7. Stamp Rs. 100 (only for group of farmers)

Application procedure:

  1. Applicant can apply online for shet tale by just going to official portal https://egs.mahaonline.gov.in/
  2. For online application for farm pond just go to https://egs.mahaonline.gov.in/Login/Login
  3. After clicking a portal applicant should fill details and get USER ID and PASSWORD
  4. Once the USER ID and PASSWORD is generated use those for filling application form
  5. Applicant also contact the agriculture officer of your district or town who is appointed by the Agricultural Department of the Government of Maharashtra
  6. Applicant also contact nearest panchayat or taluka office
