Merit Awards Scheme for Disabled Students is introduced by the state government of Maharashtra in association with Social Justice and Special Assistance Department. Under this scheme, state government gives merit award who rank in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd among disabled students in the S.S.C. & H.S.C. board of examination.
Those students who are physically handicapped such as visually handicapped, Low vision, hearing impaired and orthopedically handicapped will get merit award under this scheme. The benefits provided under this scheme are Rs.1000/- cash amount and certificate to disabled students. The government also provided travel expenses to attend the ceremony of the award with amount Rs. 100/- per students. The main aim behind introducing this scheme is to support and encourage merit disabled students who top in S.S.C. & H.S.C. exams in the state. In order to recognize their effort and encourage others to strive to achieve excellence in the field of education, the state government felicitates Awards for students with Disabilities every year. Application should be in prescribed format attached with all necessary documents and submitted to Concern Regional Deputy Commissioner, Social Welfare Department in Maharashtra

Eligibility for Merit Awards Scheme for Disabled Students in Maharashtra:
- Students who top in the S.S.C. and H.S.C. exams in their respective divisional board of education are eligible for merit award
- Students should be in top three among disabled student
- Students should have minimum 40% disability
- Students should be Domicile in Maharashtra

- Aadhaar card
- Disabled certificate
- S.S.C. or H.S.C. certificate
- Exam mark sheets
- Passport size photos
