The Chief Minister of Karnataka launched Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane (MMABY) / ಮುಖ್ಯಾ ಮಂತ್ರ ಅನಲಾ ಭಗ್ಯಾ ಯೋಜೆನ್ scheme to provide free LPG gas connections to economically weaker families in Karnataka. The scheme is similar to the one launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi called Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana and the Karnataka government claims a lot of poor families could not get the LPG connections due to several issues and hence launched state level scheme to cover remaining beneficiaries.
The Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane (MMABY) will cost Rs. 1,350 crores to the state and will benefit 30 lakh families across Karnataka. The scheme will be implemented jointly by state food and civil supplies, social welfare, forest and labor departments. It will be launched in multiple phases in the first phase 10 lakh below poverty lines (BPL) families will be benefited.

Eligibility for Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane (MMABY)/Who can apply for free LPG gas connection in Karnataka?
- Residents of the Karnataka only can apply
- Families leaving under BPL only can apply for the scheme
- AADHAAR card is mandatory for the application of the scheme
- Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana cannot apply for the scheme

How to register / apply online for Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane (MMABY)?
The government of Karnataka is yet to launch the online portal for MMABY. Once it is available citizens will be able to register for the Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane (MMABY) online and submit required documents. As of now only offline registration for MMABY can be done.
Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane (MMABY) application form and offline registration process:
STEP 1: The state government has identified beneficiaries based on the socio-economic caste census. All the beneficiaries will receive a letter from the state government regarding the Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane
STEP 2: Those who receive the letters regarding free gas connection scheme are required to submit AADHAAR card, ration card and caste certificate to the gram panchayats in rural areas and nearest ward office along with the Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane letter
STEP 3: The data will be entered into the Karnataka government official online registration system for Anila Bhagya Yojane
STEP 4: Food and Civil Supplies Department will then verify the documents based on which the gas connections will be provided
