Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana, Uttarakhand

On August 2, 2021 Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana for those children who lost their parents due to covid. Under this scheme the state government will take various welfare measures for the children facing hardships due to the pandemic situations. This scheme will be implemented in phases. In the first phase the state government will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 3000 per month to the children till they attain the age of 21. Employment opportunities will also be provided to such children when they attain 21 years of age. Measures will also be taken to ensure no one else sells off their ancestral property until they become adults. This scheme is an important step taken by the state government to take care of the beneficiary children in these tough times.

Scheme Details:

• Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana is launched by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the welfare of children in the state who lost their parents due to covid
• The announcement of the scheme was made in the month of May, 2021
• Launch was undertaken on August 2, 2021
• It is launched for the welfare and social security of the children who lost their parents or are orphaned due to covid
• This scheme will be implemented in phases
• Total 2347 beneficiary children in the state have been notified
• Out of which 1062 children will be benefited in the first phase of the scheme
• Under the scheme, in the first phase a financial assistance of Rs. 3000 per month to the children till they attain the age of 21
• This will help the students with further studies without having financial constraints
• In the second phase relevant employment opportunities will be provided. 5% horizontal reservation in government jobs will be provided to these children
• Measures will also be taken to ensure no one sells off their ancestral property until they become adults
• The responsibility of implementation of the scheme will be assigned to the district magistrates respectively
• Covid-19 pandemic has affected a lot of people including children and thus state government is taking efforts to assist the children in these tough and unprecedented times thereby ensuring their welfare and social security
• This scheme is a crucial step by the government which will turn out to be a boon for the affected children across the state
• During the launch, CM stated that the loss faced by the children is irreparable but the state government will always take care of them like a guardian.
