Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana introduced by the State Government of Uttarakhand for girls in association with Women & Child Welfare Department. The main purpose of the scheme is to provide financial help to the families who are having an only girl child in their family. The state government provides a fixed deposit of Rs. 15000/- on the name of a newly born girl child in the state. The fixed deposit will be given to the girl when she completed 18 years of age and successfully completed the high school examination. The main objective of the scheme is to improving health and educational status of the girls, to provide them better future, to prevent female feticide, to bring the positive attitude among people towards girl childbirth and to minimize child marriage in the state. This scheme helps financial security for the future education of girl child and also helps to stop female feticide in the state. Uttarakhand government has taken very good intuitive for the girl’s child
Benefits of Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana for Girls in Uttarakhand:
- Benefits of financial help to the families who are having a girl child in their family
- The government provides a fixed deposit of Rs. 15000/- on the name of newly born girl child in the state
- In this scheme, Rs. 5000/- is provided at the time of birth of a girl child and the remaining amount will be provided to the girl on completion of the age of 18 years
Eligibility for Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana for Girls in Uttarakhand:
- Applicant should be resident of Uttarakhand state
- Girl parents family income should be less than Rs. 42000/- for urban area and Rs. 36000/- for rural area
- Applicant should belong to below poverty line(BPL) families
- Only two girl child from each family can get benefits of the scheme

- Aadhaar card
- Domicile certificate
- Income certificate
- Girl birth certificate
- BPL certificate
- Maternal-child protection card
