Navodaya and Morarji Desai Residential Schools Scheme

The Navodaya and Morarji Desai Residential Schools scheme is started by Karnataka government (Social Justice and Empowerment) for student belongs to SC, ST, and OBC category to get the education from class 6th to 10th. The main objective of the scheme is to provide better education and hostel facilities to the students

Benefits of Navodaya and Morarji Desai Residential Schools Scheme:

  • The students are provided with both boarding and lodging facilities. For each student boarding charges of Rs. 500 per month will be paid for 10 months and food is supplied as per the diet chart
  • Dresses worth Rs. 800 per year is supplied to each student i.e. 2 pairs of dresses, 2 pairs of canvas shoes with socks. Rs. 600 per student once in two years for bedding.
  • Students are given textbooks, notebooks and stationery items worth Rs. 500 per year
  • Miscellaneous charges are given to each student at the rate of Rs. 100 per month (for soap, oil, toothpaste, hair cutting etc.)
  • Medical expenses will be paid to each student at the rate of Rs. 1000 per year and items like steel plates and cups, furniture, library books, laboratory equipment, sports material will be provided

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Navodaya and Morarji Desai Residential Schools Scheme:

  1. SC students who have passed 4th are eligible for entrance examination to get admitted to 5th Std
  2. Candidate must belong to either SC, ST or OBC category
  3. SC/ ST children will fill 75% of the seats and 25% of from other backward classes children

Application procedure and documents required for applying Navodaya and Morarji Desai Residential Schools Scheme:

  1. Caste certificate stating that the candidate belongs to SC
  2. Birth certificate
  3. Aadhar card
  4. Domicile certificate
  5. Address proof
  6. Aadhar card
  7. Bank details, IFSC code, MICR code, account number, account holder name

Application procedure:

  1. During the month of May, every year admissions are carried out through an entrance examination so that candidate has to apply for entrance exam
  2. Prescribed application form to seek admission to standard 6th in residential schools can get from principals of respective residential schools or from Taluka level Officers of the education department and also by download from the association’s website
