Nursery Cum Women Welfare Centers

The Nursery Cum Women Welfare Centers are started by Karnataka government (Women and Child Development) In order to inculcate school-going habit at an early age, among scheduled caste children 164 Nursery Cum Women Welfare Centers benefiting 6,366 scheduled caste children are functioning in the State. These centers are mainly located in scheduled caste localities. The sanctioned strength of each center is 50, consisting of both boys and girls. Children who are in the age group of 3-5 years. These children are brought to the center by the conductress from their homes, every day by 9.00 a.m. She cleans the children neatly and puts them in a classroom. The organizer who also works as a teacher, teacher alphabets, rhymes, storytelling, etc to the children

  • The Nursery Cum Women Welfare Centers provides benefits in the form of food and financial assistance. Benefits are mentioned below
  • The children are given a hot mid-day-meal cooked at the center, at the cost of Rs. 1 per day per child
  • The children are also given 2 sets of dresses annually, at the cost of 150 per child
  • The scheme inculcate School-going habit at an early age

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Nursery Cum Women Welfare Centers:

  1. All children between the age group of 3-5 years belonging to Scheduled Caste are eligible for admission to these centers
  2. Candidate must be residents of Karnataka State

Document required for applying Nursery Cum Women Welfare Centers:   

  1. For admission, no documents are not mandatory but some are mentioned below which can be required
  2. Aadhar card of parents
  3. Birth certificate of child
  4. Caste certificate of parents
  5. Residence certificate of parents
  6. Domicile certificate of parents

  1. A Women welfare organizer and a conductress maintain the centers so parents of child can contact to Women welfare organizer office
  2. Parents of child can contact to Anganwadi centers
  3. Parents of child can contact to centers are mainly located in scheduled caste localities
