Online Procedure for Application of Death Certificate in Maharashtra

A Death Certificate is vital to document provided by state government to the nearest relatives of the deceased, stating the date, fact, and cause of death. In urban areas, death certificates are issued by the Municipal Corporation or Municipal Council, whereas in rural areas, the authority is the Tehsildar at the Taluka level. The authority at the village level is the Gram Panchayat Office. But now the birth certificate can be obtained through online procedure relative of deceased need not to visit Municipal Corporation or Municipal Councilor Tehsildar at the Taluka level. Maharashtra state started service of providing Death certificate online. A Death certificate can be used for Claiming life insurance benefits, Claiming pensions, Settling estates, Cause and circumstances of death, Death and place of interment, Evidence of age, gender, and race, Genealogical information. At last death certificate is a crucial certificate and it is required every death is to be reported and registered within 21 days at the place of its occurrence in the prescribed reporting forms

 Required eligibility and conditions for applying Online Death Certificate:

  1. Every death is to be reported and registered within 21 days at the place of its occurrence in the prescribed reporting forms. In following cases, persons are required to register
  2. When the Death has taken place in a house then head of the house or nearest relative of the head of the house or oldest person in the family
  3. When the Death had taken place outside the house
  4. In a Hospital/Health Centre, Maternity Home or other like institutions: Medical Officer In charge or any officer authorized by him
  5. In a Jail: Jail In charge
  6. In a Hospital, Dharamshala, Boarding House: Person Incharge
  7. In a Moving Vehicle: Person In charge of the Vehicle
  8. Found deserted in a public place: Headman of the Village/In charge of the local police station

Information required for applying Online Procedure for Application of Death Certificate: 

  1. Name of the deceased
  2. Age of deceased and sex (Male/Female)
  3. Name of the Father/Husband of the deceased
  4. Place of death, Hospital/House (with details)
  5. Date of death
  6. Purpose for which this Certificate is required
  7. Relationship of the applicant with the deceased
  8. Place e.g. City, Taluka, District
  9. Note: No documents required

Application procedure:

  1. Applicant needs to visit Apple Sarkar official website. Click next link to visit Apple Sarkar website Click to Visit Aaple Sarkar Website or https://aaplesarkar.mahaonline.gov.in/en
  2. Post visiting this link a window will appear which will look like the same image posted below. Then click on Right to Service (RTS) button
  3. The next window will appear which will look like the second image posted below
  4. Then click on login or create new user account. Once it created a login using credentials. Window will appear which will look like posted image below
  5. Then search for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department and click on it. Then click on Death Certificate and click on The image will appear which will look posted image below
  6. Then fill necessary information required. A window will appear this will be an application form. Fill it carefully and click on submit
  7. Post-click on submitting the window will appear which will ask you for payment hen select proper payment option, make payment and submit
  8. Then after 5 to 6 days you can download soft copy of death certificate

  1. For any kind of queries candidate can contact to Health Office, Municipal Corporation or Municipal Council, whereas in rural areas, the authority is the Tehsildar at the Taluka level or Gram Panchayat

  1. The cost for application is not more than Rs25

    Only site is prepared for “Show purpose”. It is not made operational, may be operational after 5 years ! Only announcements, no ground work at all !! Aapale Sarkaar ??
