Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes by Government of Meghalaya

The Post-Matric Scholarship for SC and ST Students is started by Meghalaya State Government (Ministry of Social Justice and Welfare) ST & SC Development and Minority & Other Backward Classes Welfare Department. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe students studying at Post-Matriculation or Post-Secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. This scheme will provide better opportunities for increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability and empowerment through education and increase of the socio-economic conditions of the SC and ST communities. These scholarships are available for studies in India only and are awarded by the Government of Meghalaya.

Benefits of Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribes:

  • Free Post-matric Scholarship for SC and ST Students provides in the form of financial assistance. Rates of scholarship are mentioned below as per the requirement of students
  • Degree and Post Graduate level courses including M.Phil., Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral research in Medicine (Allopathic, Indian and other recognized systems of medicines), Engineering, Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary & Allied Sciences, Management, Business Finance /Administration, Computer Science/ Applications. And Commercial Pilot License (including helicopter pilot and multiengine rating) course. And Post Graduate Diploma courses in various branches of management & medicine. And C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A. etc. and M.Phil., Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral Programmes (D. Litt., D.Sc. etc.) and L.L.M.: for hostellers Rs. 1200/- per month and for Day scholar Rs. 550/- per month
  • Graduate/ Post Graduate courses leading to Degree, Diploma, Certificate in areas like Pharmacy (B Pharma.), Nursing (B Nursing), LLB, BFS, other para-medical branches like rehabilitation, diagnostics etc., Mass Communication, Hotel Management & Catering, Travel/Tourism/Hospitality Management, Interior Decoration, Nutrition & Dietetics, Commercial Art, Financial Services (e.g. Banking, Insurance, Taxation etc.) for which entrance qualification is minimum Sr. Secondary (10+2). And Post Graduate courses not covered under above point  e.g. M.A./M.Sc./M.Com./M.Ed./M.Pharma etc.: for hostellers Rs. 820/- per month and for day scholar Rs. 530/- per month
  • All other courses leading to a graduate degree not covered in above points e.g. BA/B Sc/B Com etc.: for hostellers Rs. 570/- per month and for day scholar Rs. 300/- per month
  • All post-matriculation level non-degree courses for which entrance qualification is High School (Class X), e.g. senior secondary certificate (class XI and XII); both general and vocational stream, ITI courses, 3 year diploma courses in Polytechnics, etc.: for hostellers Rs. 380/- per month and for day scholar Rs. 230/- per month

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes:

  1. Candidate must be a permanent residence of Meghalaya State
  2. The annual income of parents must not exceed more than Rs. 108000/- (1 lakh eight thousand)
  3. Students pursuing post-graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course
  4. These scholarships will be given for the study of all recognized post-matriculation or post-secondary courses pursued in recognized institutions
  5. Students pursuing part-time courses will not be eligible

Document required for applying Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes:

  1. Caste certificate
  2. Caste validity (If Available)
  3. Income certificate not exceeding more than Rs. 1,08,000/- (One lakh eight thousand)
  4. Domicile certificate
  5. Residence proof e.g. certificate from residence authority
  6. Aadhar card
  7. Bank Details e.g. IFSC code, MICR code, Account number, Account holder name, Branch name
  8. School Mark sheets and certificates
  9. Bonafide certificate
  10. Passport size photograph
  11. A receipt in acknowledgement of the scholarship of previous year (If applicable)

Application procedure:

  1. Applicant should visit the official website and fill details online. Take the print out of the application after filling all the details in the website. The print out copy should be attached with the all documents
  2. Application complete in all respects shall be submitted to the Head of the Institution, being attended or last attended by the candidates
