To provide the poor, economically weaker sections with pucca houses and other amenities thereby leading to infrastructural as well as economic development in the state

On January 20, 2021 Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi released Rs. 2,691 crores for the beneficiaries under PM Awaas Yojana – Gramin in Uttar Pradesh. This announcement and release of finance was made by the PM via video conferencing. PMAY-G is a centre sponsored scheme launched in the year 2016. It aims at housing for all the beneficiaries by the year 2022. This includes building pucca houses along with unskilled labour wages, toilet construction, etc thereby benefiting about 6.1 lakh beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh. It will also lead to infrastructural development in the state and create new employment opportunities thereby.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:

  • The main objective of the scheme is to help the poor and economically weaker sections of the state
  • Under this scheme, pucca houses will be given to the beneficiaries
  • It will enable the poor to fulfill their dream of owning a house
  • This scheme will also boost the real estate sector in the state
  • Unskilled labour wages will be given to the beneficiaries
  • Toilets will be constructed for the beneficiaries along with amenities like LPG connection, electricity connection, safe drinking water, etc

  • This financial assistance was released on January 20, 2021 by the PM through video conferencing, CMO UP, Yogi Adityanath and Union Rural Development Minister Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar were also present at the occasion virtually

  • Under this scheme pucca/ permanent houses are provided to the beneficiaries
  • 100% grant of Rs. 1.2 lakhs in plain areas and Rs. 1.3 lakhs in hill states/ difficult areas are provided under this scheme
  • Along with housing, PMAY-G beneficiaries also get amenities like LPG connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme and Electricity connection
  • Beneficiaries also get access to safe drinking water under Jal Jeevan Mission
  • 12,000 as assistance for construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G)/ MGNREGS
  • Apart from this beneficiary unskilled labour wages will also be given to the beneficiaries under MGNREGS
  • The current financial assistance includes release of first installment to Rs. 5.30 lakh beneficiaries and second installment to 80,000 beneficiaries who have already received the first installment
  • PMAY-G aims at housing for all the beneficiaries by 2022
  • Till date 1.26 crore houses are already built in the country under this scheme
  • It will enable the beneficiaries to live in a secure space of their ownership
  • It will also increase the employment opportunities and thereby boost the state’s economy
  • This will not only lead to infrastructural development but also leads to overall economic development in the state
