Kerala Govt planning to launch regular pension scheme for Pravasi Malayalis (NORKA) on one-time payment of 5 lakh

Kerala Government will soon launch Pravasi Dividend Pension Scheme (PDPS) for Non Resident Keralites (NRK / NORKA) / Pravasi Malayalis. The announcement was made by the Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam during his address to the state assembly. It is a regular pension scheme for the NRKs on one-time payment of Rs. 5 lakh.

The primary objective of the scheme is the welfare & development of the Pravasi Malayalis living in different countries across the globe. The money collected under the PDPS pension scheme will be invested in Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The funds will be used for the infrastructure development projects.

21 lakh Keralites who have migrated abroad. 90% of them lives in Middle East. There remittances to the state is Rs 85,092 crore.

Call center with international toll-free number & portal to be launched for NORKAs.

Kerala government is working on launching a call center with international toll-free number for Non Resident Keralites. NRKs can call to get information, report issues, get help & also register complaints.

Government is also planning to launch an interactive portal for pravasi malayalis. It will provide information, various job opportunities & will also provide online attestation & recruitment process. Primarily the toll-free number & portal will act as single point of contact for the NRIs living abroad.
