Rainfed Area Development in Maharashtra under NMSA for Farmer

Rainfed Area Development (RAD) is implemented by the state government of Maharashtra for the farmers. Rainfed Area Development comes under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture NMSA. Rainfed Area Development (RAD), Soil Health Management (SHM) and Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture (CCSA) programme are included under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture NMSA. But, this all program implemented independently on the state level. Under this scheme, the state government has aims to increase agriculture production or increase various opportunities for farmers , to integrating multiple components of agriculture such as crops, horticulture, livestock, fishery, forestry with agro-based income-generating activities, to aware farmers about floods and suddenly change in climatic condition for minimization of damage, to adopt Integrating Farming System,  to use advance agriculture technology for increased production and generate employment, to reduce risk of dryland farming and increase confidence about dryland agriculture among farmers. Rainfed Area Development (RAD) programme is implemented in all stats in Maharashtra especially drought areas in the state and the area which can come under irrigation agriculture excluded from this programme

Benefits of Rainfed Area Development for Maharashtra:

  • To get subsidy Rs. 1,00,000/- for each farmers family
  • To get 50% subsidy on various programme implemented through RAD
  • To get benefits of Integrated Farming System
  • To get used to advanced technology in agriculture for increasing production

Eligibility for Rainfed Area Development:

  1. A farmer does not have irrigation facilities are eligible
  2. Farmers who have minor agriculture land are eligible
  3. A farmer who has less than five acres agriculture land are eligible
  4. A women farmer are eligible
  5. SC/ ST farmers are eligible
  6. Farmers who are ready for integrating farming system are eligible for Rainfed Area Development

  3. Applicant Aadhaar card
  4. Bank account details if required
  5. Caste certificate

Application procedure:

  1. A farmer visit department of agriculture office in Maharashtra
