Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship

Each year, the Sanskriti Foundation offers a number of Geddes Scholarship for students who are currently undertaking graduate, postgraduate and research in planning and architecture field. The objective of the scholarship is to promote and advance interest in and understanding of Patrick Geddes’ principles of town planning. This scholarship will provide an opportunity to create awareness among young planners and architects of Geddes’ principle of ‘place, work, and folk’. The scholarship has been instituted in the joint memory of Patrick Geddes and his son Arthur Geddes, both of whom had a long association with India. The work of Patrick Geddes continues to serve as a catalyst for today’s sustainable city movement.

Benefits of Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship:

  • The selected candidates will be provided with a scholarship amount of Rs. 45,000 will be paid in two instalments
  • The first instalment will be paid to the fellows at the start of Scholarship and the fellows will be required to submit a short mid-term progress report
  • The second instalment after the submission of the complete project report

Required Eligibility and Conditions for Applying Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship:

  1. The scholarship is only open to Indian Nationals
  2. The applicant must be a student of planning and architecture at a graduate/postgraduate/research level from a recognized university or institution and /or young practicing professionals
  3. Applicants should be in the age group of 20 to 30 years
  4. The applicants can be an individual or can be a collaborative work of a group of individuals

Document Required for Applying Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship:

  1. The applicants should attach a two-page CV
  2. The project proposal should be written in 1500 words with reference to the specific city /section/mohalla
  3. The candidates should include their full postal, telephonic contact details and the e-mail ID.
  4. Candidates are also expected submit few samples of previous work, project should be submitted

Application Procedure: There are two ways, by which the candidates can submit the Research Proposal, Curriculum Vitae and contact/address and these are

  1. Submit through Post: The application can be send by post to the given address with giving the title ‘Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship’ on the top of the envelope. The postal address is “Sanskriti Foundation, C-11, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi-110 016”
  2. Submit through Mail: Application can be emailed at fellowships@sanskritifoundation.org and the subject of the mail should be ‘Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship’
