Scholarship for Differently Abled Person by Govt. of Goa

In 2011, the population of differently abled people was almost 27 million, which is increase of 22.4% between 2001 and 2011. In order to make this section of our differently abled population in India live a stable and comfortable life, to make them economically sound, to overcome their challenges and make them face the society with confidence, the Government of Goa has come up with many schemes and this scheme is one of them. The objective of the scheme of scholarship for differently abled person is to assist them to ensure such education, academics, technical or professional training which would enable them to earn a living and to become useful member of society. The scheme will be applicable to all categories of the differently abled person such as visually disabled, speech and hearing impaired the orthopedically disabled and the mentally retarded person.

Benefits of Scholarship for Differently Abled Person:

  • Scholarship for Differently Abled Person provides benefits in terms of financial assistance to the students who wants to pursue higher education
  • The rate of scholarship for different courses is as follow:
  1. The student of class 9th to 10th  will get Rs. 300 per month
  2. The student of B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. will get Rs. 400 per month
  3. The student of M.A./M.Com./M.Sc. and other professional courses will get Rs. 500 per month
  • In case of visually disabled candidate the reader allowance will be paid for different courses as follow:
  1. The student of class 9th to 10th  will get Rs. 75 per month
  2. The student of B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. will get Rs. 115 per month
  3. The student of M.A./M.Com./M.Sc. and other professional courses will get Rs. 150 per month

Required Eligibility and Conditions for Applying Scholarship for Differently Abled Person:

  1. The differently abled person who is resident of goa by birth or continuous domicile of goa from last 15 years may apply for this scholarship
  2. Scholarship will be provided to all categories of differently abled person
  3. The candidate should secure minimum 45% marks at previous annual examination
  4. The Income of parent/Guardian should be not more than 1,20,000/- annually

Document Required for Applying Scholarship for Differently Abled Person:

  1. Disabled certificate issued from Medical board
  2. Income certificate
  3. Previous year Mark sheet
  4. Bank details, account holder name, account number , IFSC code, MICR code
  5. Recommendation from Head of Institute in which candidate is studying
  6. Resident certificate

Application Procedure:

  1. The scholarship scheme will be advertise through media or website or newspaper
  2. Application should be made to the Director of Social welfare in the prescribed form through the Head of Institution where the candidate is studying
