Scholarship for the Post Matric Students in Hindi from Non-Hindi Speaking States

One of the initiatives started by the Department of Education and Ministry of Human Resource Development with name ‘Scholarship to Students form Non-Hindi Speaking States for Post Matric students in Hindi’. The main aim of this scheme is to endorse the study of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states and to give the appropriate employees for teaching and other posts, where the knowledge of Hindi is important and necessary. Scholarship Scheme to students from Non-Hindi speaking States for Post-Matric studies in Hindi shall be provided to the students from Class 11 to Ph.D. level. The main object of the scheme is to encourage study of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking States and to make available to the Governments of these States, suitable personnel for teaching and other posts where knowledge of Hindi is essential.

  • Scholarship to Students for Non-Hindi Speaking States for Post Matric students in Hindi provides scholarship in the form of financial assistance. Rates of scholarship are mentioned below
  • XI & XII (i.e. + 2 stage, Intermediate Pre University /pre Degree) – Rs. 300/- per month
  • B.A./B.Sc./B.Com (Pass or Honours) or an Equivalent examination – Rs. 500/- per month
  • M.A. or M.Litt. and equivalent courses and Hindi Teacher’s Training Courses/Ph.D. – Rs. 1000/- per month

 Required eligibility and conditions for applying Scholarship to Students for Non-Hindi Speaking States for Post Matric Students in Hindi:

  1. Only those candidates whose mother tongue is not Hindi and who belong to any of the Non- Hindi Speaking States/Union Territories will be eligible for the scholarship
  2. These are non-Hindi states from which student should belong: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Jammu & Kahmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Sikkim, TamilNadu, Tripura, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Goa Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, Mizrom and Pondicherry
  3. Candidates who belong to Non- Hindi Speaking States but have residing for any purpose in a Hindi Speaking State will not be eligible for scholarship under this scheme. This condition of residence will not apply to candidates who are already studying in Hindi Speaking States
  4. Candidates studying for a bachelor’s degree will not be eligible for a scholarship unless they have taken Hindi as a subject which will make them eligible for admission to M.A. (Hindi) courses of the same University. This condition will not apply in case of universities which do not conduct M.A. (Hindi) examinations
  5. Candidates who are studying for M.A. course will not be eligible for a scholarship unless they have taken Hindi as their principal subject
  6. Candidates who wish to pursue their studies through correspondence course or who are appearing for an examination privately will not be eligible

  3. Income Certificate
  4. Aadhar Card
  5. Bonafide Certificate
  6. Previous years Mark sheet
  7. Passport size Photograph
  8. Admission Certificate
  9. Bank details e.g. account number, account holder name, branch name, IFSC code, MICR code

Application Procedure: 

  1. The candidate should submit the application form along with the required document
  2. Candidates must ensure that they apply through the State to which they belongs
  3. The application forms will be supplied by the Non-Speaking States to whom the applications are to be submitted
