Chief Minister Solar Energy Self-Employment Scheme has now been implemented across the state. It is the dream project of CMO Uttarakhand, Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat. Orders for implementation of the scheme were issued by Energy Secretary Radhika Jha. This scheme mainly aims to provide employment and livelihood opportunities to the unemployed, labourers, migrants etc in the state. This employment will be provided by setting up solar plants of 25KW capacity. This scheme will enable a boost the self-employment opportunities in the solar sector. Eligible person with capital of Rs. 1.5 to 2.5 lakhs can also take up the project with the help of government. Loan facility will be provided to such entrepreneurs.

Scheme Objectives and Benefits:
- The main objective of the scheme is to provide employment and self-employment opportunities to the people across the state
- This scheme mainly aims to assist the unemployed and migrants to cope with the pandemic situation all over
- This scheme will lend the beneficiaries a chance to build themselves up through self-employment
- People with a minimum investment of 1.5 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs can also take up the solar plant project with the help of government
- Easy loan facilities with a long repayment period will be given
- Stamp duty on the loan amount which is 7% amounting to Rs. 49,000/- has been waived off for the beneficiaries
- EMI is of lesser amount divided over a span of 15 years so as to lessen the burden of the entrepreneur
- Grants will be provided on the margin money
- This scheme tends to improve the overall economic conditions in the state in the long run.

- Solar Energy Self-Employment Scheme is a scheme launched and now implemented for providing employment and self-employment opportunities to the migrants and unemployed youth in the state
- Understanding the critical situations, state has come up with this scheme
- Energy Secretary issued the order of implementation of this scheme
- Under the scheme, solar plants of 25KW capacity are planned to be set up in the state
- People with a minimum capital of Rs. 1.5 to 2.5 lakhs can take up the project with the help of government
- Total project cost is Rs. 10 lakhs but provision is such that 70% of the project cost can be taken by availing loan from the State and District Cooperative Banks
- ROI for such loans is 8%
- A long repayment period as 15 years is kept for such loans
- The loan amount to be repaid will be divided into small easy monthly instalments which spread over the span of 15 years which will lessen the burden on the entrepreneur
- Stamp duty of 7% on the loans amounting to Rs. 49,000 will be waived off under the scheme
- For the remaining 30% the state will provide grants
- These grants will be up to 25% in the hilly districts and 15% in other districts
- Grants will be provided on the margin money
- Online applications will be invited under the scheme from the month of October
- Applications will be made on Mukhya Mantri Swarozgar Yojana portal with an application fee of Rs. 500
- Bank draft will have to be paid in the favour of Director Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA)
- Technical committee will be set up at district level to keep a check on the process
- A committee will be set up under the chairmanship of District Magistrate to check the applications received
- Technical soundness will be a major factor for screening the applications received
- Thus, this initiative tends to assist the people in the state thereby providing self-employment opportunities and improving the overall economic conditions in the long run
