Government of India to provide financial assistant to set up solar power plants and pumps

The government of India has started a new scheme Solar Pumps and Grid Connected Power Plants. Under the scheme government support to a farmer to set up solar power plants and pumps. There are three-component in the scheme. Government objective is to provide electricity to all the farm pumps in the country

Components of the scheme:

Component A:

  • Financial assistant to set up solar power plants. 500kW to 2MW.
  • Eligibility: Individual farmer, farmer cooperative society, FPOs
  • Distribution companies (Discoms) will purchase power from these plants at 40 paise per kWh or Rs 6.60 lakhs per MW per year

Component B:

  • Capacity: Solar water pump set up of capacity up to 7.5 Hp
  • Eligibility: Only farmers are eligible, in farms where convention electricity connection are not available
  • Finance: Farmer only needs to pay 40% and 60% will be paid by the government

Component C:

  • Applicable to all agriculture pump which already has electricity connection
  • Finance: Government will provide finical assistant to set up a solar pump

Eligibility:
The scheme is applicable only for Farmers & agriculture pump
