Indian Army Surgical Strikes in POK
- Pakistan based militants attacked a army based in Uri in J&K and martyred 19 Indian army personnel on 18th September 2016
- India avenged killings of its jawans 10 days after the Uri attack by carring out surgical strikes and killing 41 terrorists and destroying terrorist launch pads in POK on the 28th and 29th Sept 2016
- Paratroopers from Special Forces were involved in the operation from Indian side
- Operation began at around 12:30 am on 29th Sept 2016
- Commandos were airdropped near LOC and then they crossed over 3 KMs into the POK to conduct the ‘surgical strikes’
- Terrorist launch pads in Bhimber, Hotspring, Kel & Lipa sectors, on Pak’s side of LoC were completely destroyed in the strikes
- 38 terrorists and 2 Pakistani soldiers were killed during the strikes
- There were no Indian casualties
