On Tuesday, July 6, 2021 Tripura state cabinet approved ‘Tripura Journalists Sanman Pension Scheme 2021’. This scheme aims at welfare of the journalists in the state working relentlessly to provide real time news to the public. Now-a-days consumption of news as a source of information is increased and thus it becomes extremely necessary for the journalists to provide correct and timely news to the public. Thus, to appreciate their hard work through out their period of service, state government has announced a monthly pension of Rs. 10,000 per month for the journalists after their retirement. Retired journalists with monthly income of less than 3 lakhs per annum will be mainly covered under the scheme. State government tends to ensure welfare and social security of the journalists after their retirement through this scheme.

Eligibility:

  • Journalist applying to avail the scheme benefit should be a permanent resident of the state
  • This scheme is applicable to both Men and Women
  • Retirement age of journalists is 60 years
  • Period of their service as an accredited journalist should be minimum 10 years
  • Journalist cannot enjoy any other central/ state pension/ allowance except EPF
  • Journalist should not have any criminal background
  • Family income of the Journalist should be less than 3 lakhs per annum
