Stree Shakti Scheme

Stree Shakti Scheme is another initiative by Karnataka government to empower women with the services provided under the scheme. The scheme ensures rural women are getting all facilities which they deserve and make sure they are contributing to the family expenses. This is one of the way to bring them into main stream. One survey says that more than 17% of world’s women population lives in India, if all women in India works there will be drastic change in India’s economy and hence now alone in Karnataka more than 21 lakhs women are empowered by Stree Shakti Scheme. The way of functioning is like every Sunday members of Stree Shakti group gathers and they collect Rs. 10 per person and till date these self-help groups (SHG) has gathered Rs. 1118.05 crores and has bank loan availed of Rs. 1305.98 crores and has internal lending of Rs. 3215.88 crores among themselves for various empowerment tasks.

Benefits of Stree Shakti Scheme:

  • Strengthening rural women: By providing loan among themselves rural women are getting empowered
  • Social harmony: Since SHGs include women from every category of society there is feeling of social harmony among rural women
  • Training: Under the scheme women are given training to undertake any expertise and start their own expenditure
  • Various activities: The group organize meeting every Sundays where they also have various session of how to save money and generate different sources of earning
  • Income generating activities: The SHGs also undertake various income generating activities which again generate revenue for Stree Shakti Scheme

Income Generating Activities:

  1. Dairying
  2. Production and sale of readymade garments
  3. Blanket marketing
  4. Marketing of seeds and manure
  5. Production and sale of Papad, Sambar Powder, Agarbatti
  6. Production and sale of Composite Manure
  7. Production and sale of Soap & Detergent

Eligibility for Stree Shakti Scheme:

  1. Applicant should be women
  2. Should be in the age group of 18-45 years
  3. Women should be from below poverty line (BPL)

Documents Required:

  1. Caste Certificate
  2. Birth Certificate
  3. Aadhar Card
  4. BPL card
  5. Income Certificate
  6. Ration Card
  7. Bank passbook having (bank name, branch name, account holder name, IFSC & MICR code)

Application form:

There is not any such requirement of getting applied for the scheme, the main body in starting the Stree Shakti Scheme is the Aanganwadi center worker. So the beneficiary needs to visit nearest Aanganwadi center
