This scheme launched to boost the tourism sector in the state which is severely affected by the pandemic

Uttarakhand government is about to launch a new scheme ‘Tourist Incentive Coupon (TIC) Scheme’ in the state. This scheme is for the tourists visiting Uttarakhand and the hotel/home-stay owners thereby. Government has come up with this initiative mainly to boost the state tourism. This scheme was announced by Mr. Dilip Jawalkar, Tourism secretary Uttarakhand some days back. Under the scheme a discount of Rs. 1000/ 25% reduction in their accommodation charges per day whichever is less, will be provided to the tourists visiting the state. This discount will be provided for 3 days stay. The scheme is to be tested as a pilot project for 1 month and will be then extended further for 2 more months based on the response.

Schemes lunched by Uttarakhand Government

Provisions under the scheme:

  • The tourists willing to avail discount coupons will have to do e-booking
  • Tourists are required to register themselves online on the government portal under tourist category
  • Aadhar details are mandatory while registering on the portal
  • Only after successful registration they will be eligible for availing and using coupon
  • Under the scheme a discount coupon of Rs. 1000 or 25% of the accommodation charges whichever is less will be provided to the tourists
  • Coupon will be provided for a minimum stay of 3 days in the tourist spots of the state
  • It is applicable for the Char-Dham pilgrims too.
  • The discount allowed will be reimbursed to the hotel/home-stay owners by the state government within 15 days
  • The owners will have to furnish necessary documents regarding the bill charged from the tourist and based on that the reimbursement will be done.
  • Currently the scheme will be operated as a pilot project and in limited areas of the state
  • Pilot project will be launched currently for a month and then on successful response it will be further extended to 2 months
