UP Smartphone Tablet Scheme

This scheme is started by Uttar Pradesh state government to provide tablets and smartphones for assisting the youth in their higher education under the digital shakti initiative.

Uttar Pradesh state government has started ‘UP Smartphone Tablet Scheme’ for youth in the state under the digital shakti initiative. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched this scheme on December 25, 2021 marking the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna recipients former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Under this scheme the state government will provide free laptops and smartphones to youth in the state along with facility of digital access and content free of cost. This scheme will promote digital education. It aims at infusing technology in the modes of studying which will benefit students. It will ensue technical and digital empowerment of students. This scheme intends to benefit about one crore youth of the state. Total budgeted outlay for this scheme is Rs. 3000 crores.

  • This scheme will assist the youth in their higher education.
  • It will promote digital education in the state.
  • Under this scheme the students in government colleges across all districts will be provided with free tablets and smartphones to help them access the educational content online.
  • Government makes available facility of digital access and content free of cost for the students under this scheme.
  • This scheme will enable the students to learn and study anytime without any hindrances.
  • It intends to empower students technically and digitally thereby ensuring their welfare.


  • The applicant student must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • He/ she must be studying in Graduation/ PG/ Technical/ Diploma in a government or private school.
  • Annual income of the applicant’s family must be Rs. 200000 or less.

  • Aadhaar card
  • Residence certificate
  • Income certificate
  • Age proof
  • Educational marksheets
  • Bank account details
  • Passport size photo

Application Process:

  • Visit the official website @digishakti.up.gov.in.
  • Go through the details of the initiative on the portal.
  • Students are not required to apply through any link themselves.
  • Student data of eligible students will be provided to the government by the respective schools/ colleges.
  • After verification the eligible students will be provided with smartphone/ tablet.
  • Eligible students will get necessary updates on their mobile numbers.
  • In case of any issue contact the applicable nodal officer.
