The person who has done good work in agriculture field is awarded by Shetinishtha puraskar. The government has decided nominee for this award by work in agriculture such as used advanced technology in agriculture, pesticides used in agriculture for prevention of pests and diseases, agriculture on dryland, irrigation or micro-irrigation in farm for water conservation, used chemical fertilizer in adequate quantity, government or bank issued loan is used for agriculture and repayment of loan, wells or farm pond for agriculture, different plantation in agriculture land, integrating component in agriculture, fertilizer, and pesticides for prevention of crop diseases, agro-related business, fruits garden in dryland agriculture etc. Vasantrao Naik Shetinishtha Puraskar awarded once in a year. Farmer’s communities are eligible for this award. The awarded nominee get prize money Rs. 11000/-, memento and reward letter by state government of Maharashtra

Eligibility for Vasantrao Naik Shetinishtha Puraskar
- Farmer should have own farmland
- A farmer who only engages in agriculture-related activities are eligible
- Tribal farmers who have caste certificate are eligible
- A farmer should have member of agriculture magazine

- The state government of Maharashtra appointed district or taluka level committee for implementing Vasantrao Naik Shetinista Puraskar
- The person for Vasantrao Naik Shetinista Puraskar is selected by taluka, district and divisional level committee
