Indradhanush Scheme / इंद्रधनुष योजना

The Indradhanush Scheme was launched by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on 25th December 2014. The objective of this mission is to ensure that all children under the age of two years, as well as pregnant women, are fully immunized with seven vaccine-preventable diseases. The Mission Indradhanush, depicting seven colors of the rainbow, targets to immunize all children against seven vaccine preventable diseases, namely like Diphtheria, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Tetanus, Tuberculosis, Polio, Hepatitis B, Measles. In addition to this, vaccines for Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Haemophilus influenza type B (HIB) are also being provided in selected states. This initiative was taken by government helping lots of children and pregnant women of the country. The scheme is implemented by government hospital or benefits are provided government hospitals and Anganwadi centers

Benefits of Indradhanush Scheme:

  • The scheme provides free seven vaccine preventable diseases, namely like, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Tetanus, Tuberculosis, Polio, Hepatitis B, Measles
  • The scheme is helpful to prevent child from becoming victim of threatening diseases

Required eligibility and conditions for applying Indradhanush Scheme:

  1. Pregnant women are eligible
  2. Child under two-year age eligible
  3. Women and child should be residents of India

Document required for applying Indradhanush Scheme:

  1. Aadhar card of women
  2. Birth certificate of child
  3. A card provided by Anganwadi

Application procedure:

  1. Vaccination Schedule mentioned below which will help to mother and pregnant women while application
  2. Women can ask to respective hospital where she is admitted or nearer government hospitals
  3. At Birth: BCG, OPV, HEP B
  4. 6 Weeks: OPV, DPT*, HEP B*
  5. 10 Weeks: OPV, DPT*, HEP B*
  6. 14 Weeks: IPV, OPV, DPT*, HEP B*
  7. 9-12 Months: MEASLES, VITAMIN A, JE**
