India is always considered as a land of culture where there is huge variety of cultures available and it was observed that although there are schemes to cover the age group of 10-25 years, there were no schemes which would provide the basic financial support either for very advanced training or individual creative effort for revival of some of our traditional forms of arts. So Chief Minister of Maharashtra announced that the state will start a classical music scholarship in memory of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Bhimsen Joshi made efforts to ensure that the common man would enjoy classical music, which had earlier been limited to the elite. The scholarship is started with the aim to help a needed students who are studying a classical music in Maharashtra. The applicant should furnish his / her interests proof related academic research and performance related research in culture. However, these scholarships are not meant for providing training, conducting workshops, seminars or documenting memoirs/or writing autobiographies, fiction. The objective is to encourage analytical application of new research techniques, technological and management principles to contemporary issues in areas related to art and culture.
Benefits of Bharat Ratna Bhimsen Joshi Youth Scholarship Scheme:
- There will be 12 scholarship awarded every year by state government of Maharashtra
- A Scholarship of Rs. 5,000/- per month for the two years will given to all needed students who are studying in classical music
Eligibility of Scheme Bharat Ratna Bhimsen Joshi Youth Scholarship Scheme:
- The Scholarship is open to all Maharashtra state candidate
- Government of Maharashtra encourages women applicants to apply for the Scholarship
- Candidates should have a degree/diploma from a recognized university or institution
- Applicants should have at least three years of initial training in Indian classical music
- Successful candidates must take guidance from another senior guru and enhance the existing style
Document Required for Bharat Ratna Bhimsen Joshi Youth Scholarship Scheme:
- Graduation certificate for institutions
- All mark sheets of graduation years
- Income certificate
- All information about higher education and its certificate
Application Procedure:
- Applicants will be invited by giving advertise in the leading newspapers in month of June
- Applicants are requested to stay in touch with these newspapers and follow the instruction given in the paper
- Applicant should visit nearest cultural office of the district with all the required documents within the prescribed date given in the news papers
