Bihar Ration Card is a document officially issued by the state government of Bihar to its residents. One can apply for ration card in the state via offline mode. It can be applied by any resident irrespective of caste. Ration Card is an essential document for availing necessary basic food items at lower prices. It is provided based on the income/economic status. It is issued and distributed by Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Department in the state.

Types of Ration Card:

  • BPL ration card: It is issued to the families below poverty line with an annual income of less than Rs. 10,000/-.
  • APL ration card: It is issued to the families above poverty line with an annual income of more than Rs. 10,000/-
  • AAY- Antyodaya ration card: It is issued to the families who are extremely poor with no fixed income or no means of earning income
  • Annapurna ration card – It is issued to the aged pensioners in the state

Processing Time:

  • A period of 15 days is required for processing a Ration card in Bihar

Important documents required while applying for a Ration Card:

  • Proof of Identity ( PAN Card/ Election Card/ Passport/ Driving License/ Any Identity Card/document issued by Govt. organisation)
  • Proof of Residence (Election Card/ Aadhaar Card/ Electricity Bill/ Telephone Bill/ LPG connection Bill)
  • 3 Passport sized photos
  • Income proof
  • Bank Passbook

The above-mentioned original documents are to be produced for verification and these are to be submitted in copies for further process.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant and his/her family members should be Citizens of India
  • The applicant and his/her family should mandatory be a residents of Bihar
  • Applicant should not have registered/ applied for a ration card any time before

Application Procedure to Apply for Ration card:

  • The applicant is required to visit the office of circle officer or SDO office
  • Take the form from the office and fill the required details like name, full address details, caste, religion, gender, marital status, family details, income details, contact details, etc
  • Sign the declaration
  • Affix a passport sized photo on the form
  • Submit the duly filled form with required documents
  • Applicant can check his/ her name in the ration holders list online
  • On the offline via portal @epds.bihar.gov.in

  • Click on the RCMS Report link on the home page
  • Select the applicable district and rural/ urban, block/ town
  • Check if the name is included in the list or not
  • Once verified and approved by the officer, the Ration card will be issued and sent to the registered address by post
