IIT – PACE Scheme by Government of Maharashtra

A months ago, the government tied up with IITian’s Pace, coaching academy, to provide coaching to IIT-aspirants, junior college education and hostel accommodation for 50 promising students from rural Maharashtra. Now, these students, all of who belong to SC and ST and who were selected on the basis of an entrance test, and their parents have arrived in the city, only to find they have nowhere to stay. The government had promised accommodation for the students who study’s in the PACE couching classes. The batch of students were to be the beneficiaries of a tie-up between IITian’s Pace and the Social Welfare Department. While the government had promised hostel accommodation, IITian’s Pace was to provide free coaching and junior college education. These students were to be the ‘Super-50’ of Maharashtra, similar to the ‘Super-30’ of Bihar; where 30 disadvantaged students were picked out on the basis of an entrance test and trained free of cost for IIT.

Benefit of the IIT – PACE Scheme:  

  • Under this scheme, the girl student who passed in 10th standard will prepare for IIT-JEE and International Olympiad for free in PACE couching class
  • The girl student will get Rs. 7500/- per month for the hostels and daily food
  • These 50 girls will also get an exam fee for their competitive exam

Required eligibility and conditions for applying IIT – PACE Scheme: 

  1. The girl student should belong to backword class and also be in economically backboard class section
  2. The beneficiary should not have any permanent residence in Mumbai for availing the benefit of free hostel facility
  3. All students have to give the entrance exam conducted by the PACE academy to select in super 50 students in Maharashtra
