The National Sports Talent Search Scheme (NSTSS) is the scheme started by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport, Government of India. NSTSS has been formulated for talent identification in the age group of 8-10 years and nurturing and identifying the talented sports person. The main aim of this scheme is to identify talent in schools, colleges, and universities and enable them to participate in national and international events. The scheme helps to play an important role in overall development of youth. Under the scheme, the government conducts Physical Efficiency and Sports Aptitude Test (PESAT) for the students who are in the age group of 8-12 years. The students clearing test will get admission in Junior Sports Academy and Sports Training Center of Sports Authority of India.
Benefits of National Sports Talent Search Scheme:
- The scheme will encourage the development of Indian sport, particularly in the rural sports.
- The scheme helps to identify talented sportspersons in the age group of 8 to 10 years in school and provides training to them
Eligibility for National Sports Talent Search Scheme:
- Students in the age group of 8 to 12 years (for admission in Class IV to Class VI) are eligible to get the benefits of this scheme
- Those students are eligible for this scheme who cleared Physical Efficiency and Sports Aptitude Test (PESAT)
Documents required for applying National Sports Talent Search Scheme:
- A Birth certificate from the Municipal Corporation/School/Hospital
- Income certificate of Parent’s
- Registration Form
- Identity Proof
- The Child should have 2 Passport size photographs while appearing for final selection
